Blue and Brown Dining Room

Blue and Brown Dining Room

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

This warm, inviting dining room, with cool touches of ice blue, is a beautiful, comfortable, room you’ll be proud to entertain in. I started with the gorgeous, marble top dining table and buffet, with comfortable, fully upholstered leather chairs in chocolate brown. The “heavy” feel of the table and chairs is nicely balanced by the heavy looking iron chandelier with perfectly blended colors. I added a touch of ice blue by placing the contemporary, Westport, Breakwater rug under the table and repeating the color in the faux silk, pinch pleat drapery on a black rod. I continued to pull just a touch of  ice blue around the room in the Birch Silhouette I fine art print, placed above the buffet, and the blue glass bottle vase. After the room is perfectly balanced in color and scale, continue to add touches of glass and neutral tones around the room, and finish with a 6′ faux palm to brighten any corner. Try a soft white paint color on the walls and trim, like Valspar #7002-7 Dove White.

Red and Orange Dining Room

Red and Orange Dining Room

When decorating with strong colors like red and orange, I like to start with the largest  pieces first. I usually keep these neutral, and placed in such a way that they anchor the room. Then I add pops of strong color evenly around the room. This technique will draw the eye around the room without feeling overwhelmed, or too busy.   This simple, yet elegant, Manhattan Dining Room set from Target.com, is the neutral base I used to build a beautifully, inviting, red and orange dining room. The contemporary red and orange wall art, placed on opposite walls, with the bright red glass bowl, orange flowers, and various accessories placed throughout, creates the perfect balance of color and scale. Tuck the sage green, armless chair into a corner with the small round table to make a cozy nook. This dining room blends perfectly with the Whimsical Red and Orange living room. Order as much or as little product as you need to create the look of a professionally decorated dining room, at prices you can afford. Try the same shade of green on the walls, Valspar Laura Ashley #818 Sage, and Valspar Laura Ashley #817 Stone White on the trim.

Get the look of a professional interior decorator in your living room. The whimsical, Avington Slipper Chair from Target.com, is the inspiration for this warm, red and orange living room design. I’ve paired it with a beautiful Crimson, Microfiber Sofa from Morehome.com. The subtle copper colored draperies and matching decorative bowl, work to tone down the red accessories. The understated red and copper rug quietly pulls the entire room together. Check out the 40″ Cotlicoque wallpaper sticker from Target.com. I love these huge wall stickers for an unexpected pop of color. The dark wood and glass tables are a perfect contrast to the colorful accessories. Just click on as much or as little product as you’ll need to create this stunning look in your home. Try a neutral green color on the walls like Valspar Laura Ashley #818 Sage, and white trim, like Valspar Laura Ashley #817 Stone White.

Modern Black and White Bedroom

Modern Black and White Bedroom

This fabulous retro glam bedroom design, was inspired by the Zuo Modern Lounge Chair from Morehome.com. Playing off the black and gray print, I chose the rich, elegant, Silver Luxury Coverlet from Target.com with a glamorous black tufted headboard. I used the black and white rug to anchor and balance the room with the white furniture. I LOVE the black and white OH! Table Lamp from Target.com with the black mirror placed over the white dresser. The retro mirrored jewelry box works perfectly with the 5-light crystal chandelier.  Place the contemporary black cube table next to the chair with the floor lamp to create a great little reading nook. With touches of pink and rich raspberry curtains you’ll create the perfect balance of scale and color to get the look of a professional interior decorator! Keep the walls neutral with a soft gray paint, try Valspar #4007-1A Pelican, with a white trim like Valspar #7006-24 Anthem White.

The soothing color combination of blue and brown makes it easy to relax in this beautiful contemporary living room inspired by the Avington slipper chair from Target.com. I’ve paired the chocolate brown and steel blue chair with the steel blue Sheridan Sofa, also from Target.com. The six panel leaf wall art ties these two colors together while introducing subtle shades of rust, butter, and sage. Lighten up the color palette with a winter white shag area rug, balanced by the dark wood coffee table and T.V. stand. Place the crystal and white lamp on the wood and glass end table with the dark photo frame. Try the decorative leaf bowl with decorative wooden balls on the coffee table. This bowl works beautifully with the leaf pattern in the chair, and the Family Tree photo frame. Then, complete the look with the faux silk, pinch pleat, chocolate drapery panels. Click on the photo to view the pieces you’ll need to be you own interior decorator and create a warm, inviting living room. Try Valspar #6006-1B Oatbran on the walls, and 2007-7 Dove White on the trim.

This awesome 9′ x 15′ wall mural by RooMates at roommatespeelandstick.com was my inspiration for this cool boys bedroom. Building off the blues in the mural, I started with the blueberry bookcase headboard from Target.com. Next, I surrounded the bed with black furniture and the cool leather wingback chair. The gray area rug and white curtains work to lighten the room. Finish the room with fun accessories! Click on the products you want, and be your own interior decorator.  Try Valspar #4008-7C  Autumn Sky on the walls and Valspar #7002-16 Sawyer White on the trim.

Warm Contemporary Living Room

I LOVE the monochromatic look of this room! It’s important to get the curtains, walls and sofa all in the same hue, slightly different shades. I would add an area rug to soften the hard lines a bit. Click on the photo to find great pieces that work together to create an afford-ably similar look in your home. Try Valspar #3006-10A Prairie Dance page 132 on the walls. And #3006-10C Woodlawn Lace page 132 for the trim color.
